In an interview with Biz Innings, Mr.Srikanth Paravathaneni, founder and CEO of  “YesMakeover” says, if one can position their product in the market for a price that matches their customer’s affordability, they can have a long and successful run.

The unpleasant car cleaning and washing experience in Hyderabad urged the beginning of YesMakeover Car Grooming Services and captured the market in no time with close to 2000+ monthly subscribers across 5 gated communities in Hyderabad doing 1 crore turnover currently and going strong.

What Inspired you to choose this line of business and when it started?

My association with cars started when I started my career with Varun Group in 1999. As I was not happy with the way my career was shaping, I wanted to start a business, with motivation from a friend, I decided to get into daily car cleaning and grooming services across familiar gated communities in Hyderabad. After a lot of struggle and conviction, I started YesMakeover in December 2010.

What is your business model exactly?

We establish our car cleaning points in gated communities and provide complete car cleaning services for customers subscribed to us, every day our staff reach the locations by 4 am in the morning to start their work and ensure the cars are cleaned by the time our customers leave to their work. The relationship we share with our customers is the core of our business. We operate on the trust and credibility factor. The relationship we build and maintain has a huge impact on our revenue.

Managing workers is such a tough task? How are you successfully handling this part from last 8 years?

Undoubtedly, managing workers is a very tough task. But, I believe that the sense of belonging and care that we build with our employees make things smooth. For example, weekends run on a very tight schedule for us. Often, workers might have to stay until late afternoon to finish our work. In such situations, we arrange lunch for workers and address their other needs. In short, I truly believe that happy employees bring us happy customers. And, we are doing just that.

What volume of manpower you are handling at present and what do they exactly?

We have about 108 employees at present. This strength includes supervisors and cleaners. Depending on the number of cars we have in a community, we assign cleaners and supervisors to ensure quality and on-time work.

Take us through your services list and charges?

We provide the best quality and affordable daily car mopping and wash service. We provide our services between 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Our car mopping and washing service include the following:

  • Wet cloth mopping followed by dry cloth mopping, daily
  • Complete car wash, once in a month
  • Foam cleaning of car’s exterior, once in a month
  • Foot and boot mats cleaning, weekly
  • Complete vacuuming, weekly
  • Polish application for UV protectant tire and dashboard, once in a month
  • After wash perfume spraying, once in a month

Prices for daily car cleaning for monthly subscribers. 

  • Hatch Back Rs. 500/- + GST
  • Mid-size Rs. 600/- + GST
  • Premium and SUV Rs. 700/- + GST
  • Luxury cars Rs. 800/- + GST

How many clients you have at present and what kind of turnovers you are doing?

We provide our services in about 5 communities in Hyderabad. That is, we handle the cleaning and grooming services for about 2000+ cars. We are steadily growling with increasing customer base. Our growth percentage is about 30-40% a year.

Who is your first client and how did you convince them?

My first client is MyHome Jewel. Once I decided to give this business a try, I got a proposal ready and met the MD of MyHome constructions and pitched it. He really liked my unique idea of having a daily car cleaning and grooming services right at their community. I was then provided space there to start my services. YesMakeover – Car Grooming Services was established here with about 18 car cleaning service requests.

How do you handle customer complaints?

As I mentioned earlier, for the business I run, the relationship with customers is very important. I visit all sites daily to ensure quality. However, when I get some complaints from customers, I directly address their grievances and work towards not facing such issues again. I also train all my employees before they get on the floor.

Where do you see yourself in the next 2 years?

I want to Spend my presence pan India, that will be a dream come true. We believe in leveraging our quick and quality service to its best to keep growing and expanding.

Any plans of going for funding or welcoming new investments to expand your business further?

As I want YesMakeover to spread across cities, investments are welcome. However, I believe that investments along with a true passion for this service are important to continue in the success path.
